| Main Body | QUEST (Quality Urban Energy Systems of Tomorrow) has served as Canada’s national voice for integrated community energy systems and solutions (ICES). ICES considers how energy is supplied and consumed in all sectors including transportation, land-use planning, industry, water and waste management and others.
The focus for 2012 is Smart Energy Communities in Cold Climates. Around the world, urban, small, rural, and remote communities comprise 50% of all energy use and related emissions. A significant portion of this energy is used to meet the heating and plug load needs for all buildings and for the transportation of people and goods. Many communities around the world are accelerating their sustainability strategies by integrating the energy activities associated with buildings, the supply and treatment of water, transportation and goods movement, the management of waste and energy infrastructure. These strategies are complemented by alternative financing, adaptation and resiliency, job creation and innovation. |
