Glad to be Unhappy

Writes Janna Levitt of Toronto-based Levitt Goodman Achitects: "A few months ago we sent out an e-mail blast including an article about our project - Adams Fleming House - written by John Bentley Mays. Dwell picked up from there and the Adams Fleming House is featured in the current May 2010 issue. This led to us being discovered (finally!) by that great tongue-in-cheek Unhappy Hipsters blog site, and we are honored.  As Dave Warne in our office remarked when considering our newest accomplishment, 'Wow, I guess we are really doing our job well when even us LGA Happy Hipsters design a house that allows Unhappy Hipsters to be happier in their unhappiness!''

At unhappyhipsters.com, the caption to this shot of Levitt Goodman's Adams Fleming House -- taken by Lorne Bridgman -- goes like this: His first day in the house and little Alfie was alarmed -- even their hobbies were joyless. (He'd be hitting the catnip hard.)
