Perkins+Will Canada has been named one of B.C.’s top employers for 2013. This honour builds upon Perkins+Will Canada’s recognition as one of Canada’s greenest employers for the past four consecutive years.

Now entering its eighth year, B.C.'s Top Employers is an annual competition organized by the editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers. This special designation recognizes the British Columbia employers that have lead their industries in offering exceptional places to work, examining criteria such as community involvement, physical workplace, training and skills development, and health, financial and family benefits. Employers are compared to other organizations in their field to determine which firms offer the most progressive and forward-thinking employee programs.

The editors’ reasons for selecting Perkins+Will Canada highlight that the firm:

  • helps employees achieve work-life balance with flexible hours, telecommuting, reduced summer hours and shortened and compressed work week options;
  • offers great financial benefits, including signing bonuses, referral bonuses and lets everyone share in the company's success with year-end bonuses and profit-sharing for all employees; and
  • invests in ongoing employee development with financial bonuses for some course completion, subsidies for job-related courses and professional accreditation and a range of in-house and online training programs.

“We feel very honoured to be chosen as a top employer,” says Susan Gushe, principal and managing director of Perkins+Will’s Vancouver office. “We have some of the best designers and most knowledgeable staff in Canada, and as an employer we strive to create the optimal setting for them, so that they can perform at the highest level.”

“What I like best about working at Perkins+Will, is the people,” adds project manager Jeff Doble, who has been with the firm for eight years. “We are a passionate group in both our work and our life outside the office walls. I think this passion is strongly supported by the office’s investment in design discourse and research, as well as encouraging a work/life balance.”

All of the winners are recognized on Eluta.ca, as well as a special supplement in The Vancouver Sun, which will be published Friday, Feb. 8.
