Paging Monsieur Plante
Recently promoted to Associate Professor at the School of Architecture of Laval University (Quebec City), Jacques Plante is an architect specialized in the design of theatres and venues for entertainment. On December 5, 2007, he was awarded two “Merits of Architecture of the City of Quebec”: the first for the renovation and extension of a single-family home (862 de Bellevue Street, Quebec City), the second the Jury’s Special Award (jointly with architects Bernard et Cloutier and St-Gelais Montminy) for the transformation of the Palais Montcalm, a 1930s municipal theatre, into a concert hall. From 2008, Jacques Plante will act as Canada’s official representative on the architectural commission of OISTAT (International Organization of Scenographers, Theatres Architects and Technicians) He will also be active as an associate researcher with Laval University’s LANTISS (Laboratory for New Visual, Sound and Stage Technologies).
