French Dressing

The 20th annual Salon International du Design D’Intrieur de Montral, held at Place Bonaventure, has come and gone. Those of us expecting banners and brouhaha – or at the very least a sense of occasion – were disappointed. An underpopulated floor, poor signage and awkwardsettings added up to a show that was somber rather than celebratory. Even the advertised “specials” – including eco-design created by 20 graduate students, a display combining Quebec fashion and interior design, and the 3rd edition of Design Africa – seemed perfunctory.

Clearly, SIDIM could use a shot of adrenaline and an infusion of razzle-dazzle. Cool new designs, such as those featured here, deserve a better showcase.
