RAW DESIGN LAUNCH

Former Quadrangle architects Roland Rom Colthoff (who created the ber-cool BMW Toronto dealership overlooking the Don Valley Parkway near the Gardiner Expressway) and Richard Witt launched their new partnership, Raw Design.

THE ART OF CLAIRTONE, DESIGN EXCHANGE

In the 1960s, Clairtone Sound Corporation’s Project G, with the globe-shaped speakers set off from the central console, was the de rigueur stereo for the sophisticated bachelor pad (both Frank Sinatra and Hugh Hefner had one). The Design Exchange celebrated the launch of the exhibit and book titled The Art of Clairtone, marking the short-lived company’s 50th anniversary.

Elte, purveyor of elegant carpets and home furnishings, hosted a cocktail reception to launch its new collections by Thomas O’Brien, the New York-based designer of transitional-style items for Hickory Chair, Groundworks-Lee Jofa, Target and others.

TEEPLE ARCHITECTS BOOK LAUNCH

The launch of Teeple Architects, Near: Far took place, fittingly, in that Toronto gem, the Teeple-designed home of painter Charles Pachter.
