Teknion marks certification of its 50th LEED Accredited Professional
Teknion Corporation has announced that its 50th employee has successfully attained certification as a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Accredited Professional. LEED APs have a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles, and the LEED Rating System – and can help streamline the LEED building certification process for clients.
“It is with milestones such as these that Teknion continues to be recognized as one of the industry leaders, continuously taking measures to positively impact our environment,” said Scott Deugo, Teknion’s Senior Vice President, Design, Marketing & Sustainable Development. “We have more than doubled our number of LEED Accredited Professionals in the past year. These 50 LEED APs provide clients with the information required to attain LEED certification for their buildings and commercial interior projects. Since greener buildings cost less to run, Teknion’s LEED expertise translates into our clients saving money – an important consideration in the current economy.”
“How important today are green buildings? As an indicator, over 60,000 people have passed the LEED Professional Accreditation exam since 2001,” explains Sholem Prasow, Teknion’s Vice President, Business Development. “In addition to a growing number of LEED APs, Teknion’s contribution has also involved sponsoring training sessions in our showrooms in the United States, Canada, Mexico and the United Kingdom. Clients and potential clients from 40 cities around the world have participated in these sessions, including locations in Asia and South America. In 2008, some 1,500 clients, architects and designers benefited, in person, or via conference call and webinar. We are excited to share our knowledge with the A & D community to help them reduce their environmental impact and maximize savings.”
