Connecting with the DX
The Design Exchange is proud to announce the winners of the Connect Post Secondary Design Competition. Connect is a national competition, targeted at Canadian post-secondary students enrolled in design, the visual arts, and engineering. The aim is to bridge the gap between students and future users of their services.
Connect with Canada Millennium Scholarship Foundation challenged students to design the Certificate of Excellence for the final year of its Millennium Excellence Award Program. The winner of the Connect with Canada Millennium Scholarship is Darlene Khounphachangsi of Conestoga College in Kitchener. She rendered cliché Canadian icons — such as the maple leaf and Canada goose — in a unique way, giving them a profound meaning.
Connect with Safety 1st challenged students with designing a stylish and relevant stroller for today’s discerning parent. The Connect with Safety 1st winner is Kevin Idzerda of Humber College in Toronto. He created the Spur stroller — which the judges found technically competent and approachable, as well as realistic in its approach to design. Only time will tell if the Spur is destined for baby gear greatness.
The exhibition of winning work will be on display at the Design
Exchange from May 8 to 31.
