Allsteel brings a bit of NeoCon to Boston

Allsteel Inc. brought a slice of NeoCon to Boston last week with a mini-expo dubbed “NeoCont’d: Boston” (NeoCon-tinued). Despite a torrential summer downpour, more than 350 architects and designers gathered to view a host of “new from NeoCon” products at the Allsteel/Gunlocke Resource Center.

Allsteel’s Boston-based sales team initiated the NeoCont’d concept, collaborating with other show exhibitors who wanted to focus on the Boston market. More than a dozen companies participated in the first-ever event, including: 3form, Blueridge, Compass Flooring, Crossville, Designtex, Edelman Leather, GreenSource Solutions, Gunlocke, Maharam, Nora, Reflex Lighting, USG and Wilsonart.

Attendees collected information on NeoCon debuts and found plenty of design inspiration while enjoying Caribbean-flavored food and drink. What’s more, several lucky guests walked away with raffle giveaways that included an Allsteel Acuity chair in white Edelman Leather, Maharam fabric pillows and Red Sox and Celtics tickets.

“We were thrilled by the amazing turnout, which we believe was due, in part, to the fact that the tough economic climate meant many architects and designers didn’t make it to this year’s show,” said Amy Hill, an Allsteel Architecture & Design specialist, who helped organize the event. “Allsteel was eager to harness NeoCon’s energy for those who couldn’t attend. Given the event’s success, we certainly will consider it again for 2010.”
