Modern in Madrid

STUA, the recent winner of the Spanish National Design Award 2008, has opened its new shop/showroom in Madrid, in the area behind Nuevos Ministerios.

It is a bright, clean, open space designed by the architects’ studio 3.14 Gestión + Arquitectura. Making the most of the great features, with a height of over six metres, and huge windows, the space has been divided into a ground floor for the STUA exhibition area and a gallery-style first floor as a work and meetings area.

The staircase that joins the two floors is discrete and has been separated from the exhibition area by a six-metre-high screen. The screen is in line with STUA’s designs – comtemporay furniture that is simple, clean and timeless – but on a larger scale than usual. The screen has an unstructured appearance within a rectangular frame and acts as a handrail for the staircase that leads to the second floor.

The screen is white to match the rest of the space, and provides it with a discrete personality, enabling the products to stand out more easily as they do not have to compete with the architecture but are the main focus in this space devoted to design and contemporary creation.

The STUA Shop in Madrid is a place to resolve any decoration problems, where any kind of project can be decorated. A meeting place among architects, interior designers and individuals in which to discover the most unique furniture collections available in Spain.
