The workplace of the future

Inscape, the leading designer, manufacturer and distributor of innovative workplace solutions, has launched the INmagine Design Competition. The purpose of the competition is to engage designers to rethink and visualize the future of the workplace.

The office landscape is continually evolving. Workstations are getting smaller; open, desking and benching style applications are becoming almost as prevalent as cubicles. Technology continues to offer more power in much smaller, sleeker wireless options, and more and more Generation Y is working side-by-side with Baby Boomers.

In the first of a series of regional promotions, the INmagine design competition invites designers in Ontario, Inscape’s home “turf,” to submit designs of what they conceive storage will be in the workplace of the future. For over 120 years, Office Specialty (by Inscape) has been North America’s leading designer and manufacturer of strategic filing and storage solutions. In view of this legacy for providing innovative storage solutions, the first competition focuses on storage designs.

A panel of senior designers will assist Inscape in determining the winners of the competition. Prizes of $5,000, $2,000 and $1,000 will be awarded to the top three entries. Winners will be announced during a celebration at Inscape’s redesigned corporate showroom in Holland Landing, Ontario on May 27, 2010.

Says Sharad Mathur, Inscape’s vice-president of marketing, “Our hope is that the INmagine design competition will stimulate designers to completely re-imagine how the workplace could evolve in the next few years and we look forward to seeing some totally out-of-the-box designs,”
