Teknion’s Conflux wins a sixth award

Teknion Corporation today announced that the Conflux LED Lighting Collection was honored recently with a 2011 Green Good Design Award from the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies, and The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design.

“We have extraordinary opportunities in lighting design today thanks to the exponential advances in LED, related technologies and its positive impact on sustainability matters,” says Carl Gustav Magnusson, industrial designer, CGM Design. “The technology is beautifully complex and demands a highly specialized and diverse team to achieve the goals. It is thanks to the expertise of the Teknion team that we achieved, in concert, the resultant design.”

“Carl continues to design innovative, award-winning workplace products for Teknion, including the Marketplace worktable, Synapse wood guest chair, fx Workplace Accessories Collection, Conflux LED Lighting and, most recently, MAST monitor support arms and accessories,” saiys David Feldberg, Teknion president and CEO. “It’s most fitting that Carl and Conflux received recognition in the Green Good Design Awards, which honors the world’s most respected architects, designers, industry leaders, manufacturers and corporations.”

Conflux represents the evolution of LED technology with innovative design and technology advancements, including a flat-panel structure and a Passive InfraRed (PIR) occupancy sensor that works based on users’ body heat. Conflux also serves as a power source with the Adjustable Task Light that features wireless charging Powermat technology. Along with the Adjustable Task Light, the Conflux family includes the Desk Lamp, Floor Lamp and Undercabinet Light.

Over 120 new buildings and product designs from 27 nations received Green Good Design awards. The jury sought materials and products having one or more green characteristics, minimized waste, energy reduction, appropriate materials, greater life expectancy, low toxic and biodegradable components, and the ability to recycle after consumer use. All awards are posted at www.europeanarch.eu.

In addition to the 2011 Green Good Design Award, Conflux has been recognized with five other design honors in the past year: an iF 2011 product design award, a Gold Best of NeoCon in 2010, and Best of Show and Gold awards at IIDEX/NeoCon Canada last September. Conflux was also the Grand Prize Winner in the 2010 Product Innovations Awards sponsored by Buildings magazine.
