Plan to attend the IDC/IIDA Vancouver Leaders Breakfast

The IDC/IIDA Vancouver Leaders Breakfast takes place on Feb. 9, 2012.

Launched as a single event in 1989 and expanded into an annual series, the IIDA Leaders Breakfast has become an iconic event for interior design professionals across North America. The event now stretches from coast to coast and crosses borders with stops in Seattle, Vancouver, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, Chicago and Toronto. This will be the second annual IDC/IIDA Vancouver Leaders Breakfast.

Join us and be inspired by the keynote speaker, Pixar Art Director Jay Shuster. Honouree Larry Beasley, Distinguished Practice Professor of Planning at the University of British Columbia, will receive the 2012 Leadership Award of Excellence, which recognizes his outstanding contributions to the profession of interior design.

Speaker: Jay Shuster, Art Director at Pixar

Celebrating the recent unveiling of Pixar’s new facility in Vancouver, Pixar Art Director Jay Shuster is delighted to have found a family so close to the studio’s California home. Unlike other companies apt to parcel-out work overseas in order to rush a project to market, the choice of Vancouver underlines Pixar’s commitment to nurturing strong ties with headquarters and maintaining the highest quality standards, drawing on the Vancouver region’s pool of talented film-production professionals.

Fresh from Lucasfilm Ltd. and his work on the Star Wars prequel film trilogy, Shuster joined Pixar in 2002 as a sketch artist. His background in industrial design and passion for all things mechanical has helped him create fun and fresh characters for films including Cars and Oscar-winners WALL-E and Toy Story 3.

As Art Director on Pixar’s critically acclaimed Cars 2, Shuster revealed his creative leadership philosophy, which focusses on staying fresh through a unique approach and process. He will reveal the Pixar process through his personal experiences on the four films he has contributed to over the past nine years.
