The perfect Guests
Unexpected, captivating, unique…. This is The Guest, the most ground-breaking character from the Spanish artistic porcelain brand, whose worldwide premiere took place recently in New York.
Created by Jaime Hayon for Lladró Atelier, The Guest project is an invitation to cutting-edge artists from around the world who will lend a distinctive personality to a singular porcelain being.
This initiative responds perfectly to the aim of Lladró Atelier, a world of experiences in porcelain. This new concept is an opportunity for the brand’s designers to work hand in hand with outside artists to create new and exciting ideas in porcelain.
Therefore, The Guest project becomes a platform for the collaboration of artists from different disciplines with a worldwide leader in the creation and commercialization of artistic porcelain.
This collaboration results in the birth of the first pieces in this collection. Three Guests, each one in two sizes, the large in a limited edition of 250 units and the small in a numbered series. Six spectacular creations reflecting the personal universe of each collaborating artist: Jaime Hayon, the American artist Tim Biskup and the Japanese Studio Devilrobots.
As with all Lladró works, the Guests are handcrafted at the brand’s workshops in Valencia, following an entirely artisan process. The profound knowledge of porcelain, the specialized technique of the decorating team and the close collaboration with the artists resulted in the creation of pieces unexpectedly amusing and ground-breaking.
It’s fitting that The Guest made its debut in New York, the Mecca of the international art world, at an event attended by the company’s President, Rosa Lladró, along with the three collaborating artists. The chosen stage could not have been a better one: the New Museum, dedicated to promoting new ideas in art. A building so impressive and original, whose architects were awarded the Pritzker prize last year, considered to be the Nobel Prize of Architecture.
ABOUT LLADRÓ
Lladró was established by the brothers Juan, José and Vicente Lladró in 1953 in Valencia, Spain. Since then, the brand has undergone an amazing metamorphosis from an artisan workshop to a huge firm that holds a presence in over 120 countries and is at the forefront of contemporary porcelain design.
All Lladró pieces are the fruit of a painstaking handmade process of creation, still carried out entirely in the workshops of The City of Porcelain, in Valencia. The highest artistic and technical quality is achieved in each phase of this process. For further information visit www.lladro.com
