New show director at IDS

Toronto’s venerable Interior Design Show is excited to announce Todd Falkowsky’s appointment as the new director. Falkowsky replaces former director Shauna Levy, founder of IDS, who is now president of the Design Exchange.

Educated at Academie voor Beeldende Kunst en Vormgeving, Vitra Design Muséum/Centre Georges Pompidou and Domus Academy, Falkowsky went on to work as a product designer for Karim Rashid and as an associate professor at Ontario College of Art and Design University (OCADU); he has also consulted with some of the world’s leading agencies and brands, including Wolff Olins, General Electric, Ferrari and IKEA.

His work has spanned continents and mediums from product design to exhibit curation. He is founder of the Canadian Design Resource and the creative lab Motherbrand.

Says Falkowsky, “I am very grateful for this opportunity, and I look forward to this exciting challenge. I understand creative product; how to manage the forces to generate and deliver it, and find places for it to be applied and valued. I have a range of creative abilities and work to connect the best of business and design. Now I have the pleasure of working together with a fantastic and creative team to shape the future of the IDS brand and design in Canada. Everyone is invited!”

Steven Levy, Senior VP of MMPI Canada and The Art Group, including The Armory Show, Art Toronto, Volta, and Art Platform LA, welcomes the new arrival: “We waited quite a while to find the right person to assume the role of director. I am very pleased Todd chose to join us! We will be announcing our new programming, speakers and special features this summer so stay tuned.”
