We are amused: KPMB wins big
The Royal Institute of British Architecture (RIBA) recently announced that the Centre for International Governance Innovation Campus (CIGI Campus) in Waterloo, Ontario – designed by Toronto-based Kuwabara McKenna Blumberg Architects – is a recipient of the prestigious International Award for Architecture.
CIGI Campus is one of 12 projects selected from around the world. Other recipients include Foster and Partners, and Hopkins Architects.
This is KPMB’s second RIBA International Award. KPMB is the only Canadian firm to win in 2012.
Says Shirley Blumberg, KPMB partner and design architect for the project: “Jim Balsillie’s vision for an academic courtyard to house the new CIGI Campus was a unique opportunity for us to reinterpret this traditional model as a contemporary learnign environment for the new institution to grow and thrive.”
Congratulations to KPMB.
