Teknion’s masterful MAST
Teknion has just announced that its MAST Monitor Support Arms & Accessories offering was honored with a Bronze in the Office & Productivity category of the International Design Excellence Award (IDEA) 2012 competition, which is sponsored annually by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA). MAST also recently received a 2012 Green Good Design Award from The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies, and The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design.
“I am once again delighted that the MAST product and team is being recognized with a design award,” says Carl Gustav Magnusson, CGM Design LLC. “This is our third award for MAST this year. Winning these awards increases our confidence in knowing that we are solving important problems in the office and challenging the future needs.”
“The IDEA program is regarded as one of the top international design competitions, so it is with great honor that we share this prestigious award with Carl, MAST’s designer,” says David Feldberg, Teknion president & CEO. “Receiving a Green Good Design Award for MAST further acknowledges our leadership in sustainable design.”
MAST was designed to meet and anticipate ever-changing workplace technology demands – including larger and thinner monitors, as well as tablets. MAST is built around a stanchion that is strong, delivering industry-leading rigidity and stability. It is engineered to exceed user ergonomic requirements, provides finger-tip adjustment and offers unique advanced wire management that conceals vertically flowing wires. Two different monitor support types – a Dynamic Arm and a Manual Adjustment Arm – deliver the highest level of user adjustability. MAST accommodates all monitors. Mounting hardware allows monitors to be added or removed quickly and includes a security feature.
The IDEA program is a celebration of design excellence in products, sustainability, interaction design, packaging, strategy, research and concepts. Judging criteria focuses on many areas of industrial design excellence including innovation, benefit to the user, benefit to society, benefit to the client, visual appeal and appropriate aesthetics. The 2012 competition jury comprised 19 international design experts from design consultancies, corporations and universities.
Green Good Design identifies and emphasizes the world’s most important examples of sustainable design. Architecture, landscape architecture, urban planning projects, product and graphic designs from over 20 nations were awarded, representing the world’s most important manufacturers and design firms, and leading Fortune 500 corporations that are forwarding a new emphasis on a more sustainable design and environment worldwide.
