InHaus Development’s double Platinum
There are only seven LEED Platinum rated energy efficient homes in Western Canada. InHaus Development Ltd. is proud to announce it has just been awarded Platinum Certification by the Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC) for its two brand-new, cutting-edge sustainable homes in White Rock, B.C.
European efficiency meets West Coast contemporary design. These two sexy, single family homes are the first of their kind in the Metro Vancouver area. Soaring ceilings, wide open plans, floortoceiling windows, private “inhome” office space and iPad controlled “smart home” automation are combined with the latest sustainable technologies in these revolutionary, architecturally unique modern homes.
“As LEED Platinum certified homes, Beachaus I & II serve as models of greener living for the entire community,” says Mark Hutchinson, director of Green Building Programs for the CaGBC. “The homes are at the national forefront of quality and their example can help us all to live better by reducing our environmental footprint, cutting our utility bills and coming home to a healthier place to live.”
“It’s an honour to have achieved LEED Platinum on the Beachaus project,” says Dave deBruyn, president of InHaus Development. “Platinum is the highest level of certification available in the LEED program and only three other homes in the Lower Mainland have received it to date – we’re proud to be on the leading edge of the green building revolution. There are a growing number of homebuyers who are seeking high-quality homes that are smaller, smarter and less expensive to operate – it just makes sense given our unprecedented affordability challenges and ever increasing energy costs.”
All LEED certified homes are subjected to a rigorous testing process that includes a home energy (EnerGuide) rating, and onsite inspections throughout the build. Upon completion they are awarded a rating based on performance – either Certified, Silver, Gold, or Platinum. The benefits to owning a LEED certified home are enormous; homeowners enjoy healthier indoor living, and stand to save 35 to 40 per cent on heating, cooling and utility costs throughout the extended life of the home, while also qualifying for advantageous financing costs, lower insurance rates, and increased resale value in the future.
