More about the award winners

The CORE – Maple Leaf Gold Award

– GH+A in collaboration with MMC International Architects

Located in the heart of Calgary’s central business district, the CORE is an ambitious urban renewal project consisting of the redevelopment of three previously disjointed properties into a single integrated multi-use complex. Under a canopy of structural glass, the largest of its kind in North America, visitors relish a vibrant streetscape experience awash in natural light. The expansive glass roof emulates outdoor plazas and promenades, distinguishing itself with high street retail energy.

Promenades Cathédrale – Maple Leaf Silver Award

– GH+A in collaboration with Groupe Archifin

In its unique subterranean location below a major downtown cathedral in Montreal’s underground city, the food court has been entirely re-planned and revamped. Bearing no resemblance to its former self, the food court is a refuge of serenity and freshness amidst the constant rush of passersby.

Richmond Adelaide Centre – Maple Leaf Silver Award

GH+A in collaboration with WZMH Architects

The relocated food court is situated on the lower level of a corporate office complex along Toronto’s underground walkway, the PATH. Diners can choose from sitting below the new public courtyard with its glass floor providing them with teasers of the activity above, or more intimate settings under the wood checkerboard gazebo or in the woven metal ceiling.

Toronto Eaton Centre – Maple Leaf Gold Award

– GH+A in collaboration with Queen’s Quay Architects International

– Galleria Design Architects: Giannone Petricone Associates

The Urban Eatery represents the casual dining segment of the Toronto Eaton Centre revitalization program. Aptly named, the relocated food court is the ultimate urban dining experience within a classic modernist setting.
