Speaking of green: Teknion’s Tracy Backus
Teknion Corporation has announced that Tracy Backus, the company’s director, Sustainable Programs, will be a Master Speaker panelist at the 2012 Greenbuild International Conference and Expo in San Francisco (Nov. 14-16). The Greenbuild Master Series brings together leaders of diverse industries who share the common trait of championing sustainability and green building.
“It is an honor for me, and for Teknion as a long-time Greenbuild supporter, to be invited by the USGBC (U.S. Green Building Council) and ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) to be part of its Master Series,” says Backus,. “The Master Series is one of the most highly anticipated events, where timely industry topics such as social equity, environmental policy and alternative energy technology are discussed. I look forward to sharing Teknion’s knowledge and expertise, and learning from my fellow panelists.”
The session – E04: Innovations for Affordability and Accessibility – takes place Thurs., Nov. 15, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Randy Fiser, executive VP and CEO of the ASID, will moderate a dialogue between: Melissa Mizell, senior associate, Gensler; David Oakey, principal, David Oakey Designs; Ken Wilson, principal, Perkins+Will; and Backus. The panel will discuss the role that manufacturers and designers have in bringing about ongoing innovations in manufacturing, and what is required to make sustainable products affordable and readily available to all schools, homes, offices and healthcare facilities.
In addition to an appearance by Backus in the Master Speaker series, Teknion will also have a presence on the show floor.
