Albertan named to NKBA executive committee
The National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA), a professional association for kitchen and bath professionals with more than 50,000 members in Canada and the United States, announced the election of its 2013 Executive Board. This board will preside over a milestone year, as the NKBA celebrates its 50th Anniversary.
The member-elected NKBA Executive Committee will be led by president John K. Morgan of Glyndon, Md.-based Morgan Pinnacle LLC. John A. Petrie, CMKBD, of Mechanicsburg, Pa., will serve as 2013 president-elect, while Canadian Carolyn Cheetham, CMKBD, of Red Deer, Alberta, will assume the vice president position. Debra Robinson, CMKBD, of Sheffield, Ala. was elected 2013 Treasurer and Denise Dick, CMKBD, of Carrollton, Texas, was voted Secretary. Alan Zielinski, CKD of Niles, Ill., will serve as Immediate Past President.
Cheetham, the Executive Committee’s sole Canadian member, became involved in her local NKBA chapter in 1993, and has remained an active volunteer with the organization ever since. “The leadership skills and opportunities that I have earned and achieved as I have advanced from the board to the Executive Committee of the NKBA have been enormous,” says Cheetham. “As a volunteer, whatever investment I have put into the NKBA, I’ve received back tenfold. I do it because I get back so much. I am far more professional and knowledgeable because of my work with the association.”
Owner and president at Design Works by Cheetham, Cheetham previously held the position of Treasurer on the NKBA’s Executive Committee. Her re-election, this time in the role of vice president, is significant for the association’s Canadian membership. She will continue to bring a Canadian voice to the table and ensure that NKBA courses, programs, publications, events and other initiatives are fulfilling the needs of all of its membership, which includes kitchen and bath manufacturers, retailers, and designers.
