Arconas goes to Hong Kong

Canada’s Arconas, the specialty furniture manufacturer of seating for airports and public waiting areas, recently won a contract to supply over 5,000 seats to the new Hong Kong Cruise Terminal. Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, designed by Foster+Partners architects will open in mid-2013, providing a gateway to Hong Kong, and from Hong Kong to Asia. The new cruise terminal is located at the East Kowloon waterfront (former Kai Tak runway) and commands spectacular views of Victoria Harbour. Arconas’ “Bernu Aero” seating series, designed by Canadian industrial designer Davide Tonizzo, was selectedafter a thorough evaluation process.

Says Pablo Reich, Arconas executive VP, “We are very proud to be part of this project and to bring some great Canadian design to such a high- profile building. We have supplied our seating to over 200 airports around the world, including the Hong Kong Airport but this is our largest cruise terminal contract.”
