Duravit in miniature
Duravit is showing its hand in great design for small spaces with a special donation of Philippe Starck-designed products to the Making Room: New Models for Housing New Yorkers exhibition at the Museum of the City of New York. Reflecting Mayor Bloomberg’s movement for a more resourceful and micro-apartment focused New York City, the exhibition showcases innovative design solutions for space-constrained urban environments. Duravit is featured in the bathroom of the exhibit’s centerpiece, a model micro-studio apartment of only 325 square feet in size. The bathroom was designed by Minimal USA (minimalusa.com).
Says Duravit USA President Tim Schroeder, “One of the pillars of the Duravit brand is innovation. We’re excited that we can contribute to a project that is as forward-thinking and inventive as we strive to be with our products.”
Three Duravit products are used in the micro-unit’s bathroom. The Starck drop-in tub, at only 60 by 30 inches maximizes elegance and beauty without using too much space. The Starck 3 elongated toilet helps give the illusion of greater space through use of the wallhung variant. Finally, the SensoWash shower-toilet seat adds a touch of luxury to the small space, with myriad capabilities, including individual temperature control of water, air, and toilet seat; intuitive wireless remote control; child safety function; differentiated wash options for men and women; power-saving mode; LED nightlight.
