Restaurant & Bar Design Awards launch “Box Project”

The Restaurant & Bar Design Awards has invited the ‘overall’ restaurant and bar winners from the last four years to ‘think outside the box’ and create four different themed pop-up spaces using only white products.

The four creations by the winning design firms – the Box Project – will be revealed at the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards ceremony, which takes place at London’s Farmiloe building on 12 September 2013.

The designer of each pop-up will be strictly limited to the use of products found in four supplier boxes, one for each designer. Product suppliers will be in an enviable position of being instrumental in setting the design brief for the designer, a true break from the norm.

Box 1: Estudio Nomada / A-Cantina

Box 2: designLSM / Galvins

Box 3: B3 Designers / Guoman Hotels

Box 4: David Archer Architects / Busaba Eathai

To symbolize 2013 being the fifth year of the Awards, the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards’ own event partners team will be designing the fifth and final area for the evening, with a combination of a food pop-up space and a ceremonial stage to host this years ‘best’ award winners.

The Restaurant & Bar Design Awards, now in its fifth year, is an international competition that this year alone attracted 670 projects from across the world. A TASCHEN book marking five years of the Awards will be published in October.
