The IDC Board of Management is pleased to announce that the recipient of the Leadership Award at this year’s 2013 IIDA/IDC Toronto Leaders Breakfast will be Tracy Bowie, the vice-president of IIDEX Canada. This award, presented annually, recognizes exemplary leadership in the interior design industry.
“There is no finer example of leadership than this year’s honouree,” says IDC CEO Susan Wiggins. “Tracy Bowie has the tough job of inspiring the design community through IIDEX each year. How does she do it? With more enthusiasm and energy than anyone I have ever met.”
Bowie directs the sales, marketing, operations and administration of IIDEX Canada, working closely with the show’s presenters Interior Designers of Canada and Architecture Canada | RAIC. Her enthusiasm and innovative ideas have made the show what it is today – Canada’s largest trade show for the built environment, attracting 15,000 visitors annually. She is a passionate advocate for Canadian design, and works to promote Canadian designers both in Canada and internationally.
This year’s keynote speaker is radio personality and author Terry O’Reilly. He is the award-winning host of the popular CBC Radio programs “The Age of Persuasion” and “Under the Influence,” and the author of The Age of Persuasion. O’Reilly was awarded the Best New Podcast of 2011 by iTunes, the grand prize trophy at the New York Radio Festival two years in a row, and was named one of Canada’s “Most Influential” marketing people by Marketing Magazine.
Launched as a single event in 1989 and expanded into an annual series, the IIDA Leaders Breakfast has become an iconic event for interior design professionals across North America. In 2013, it will stretch from coast to coast and cross borders with stops in Vancouver, Seattle, New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, Atlanta, Toronto, San Francisco and Chicago. Each event features a locally selected keynote speaker and an honoured guest who has demonstrated leadership through their contributions to the industry.
