The Library Leadership and Management Association’s (LLAMA) Building and Equipment Section Library Furnishing and Equipment (LIFE) Committee recently recognized the Kimball Office | Interstuhl Fit Chair as a Teen Space exemplary product in library design. As part of the American Library Association (ALA), the LLAMA LIFE committee recognized the Fit chair during the 2013 ALA Conference in Chicago.
“The digital age is rapidly changing the functionality of library spaces, as well as how we are designing for the needs of younger generations,” said Elisabeth Martin, AIA, co-chair of the Best Products Showcase program. “The multifunctional Fit chair addresses these needs in an inviting and stylish way.”
The deceptively simple Fit Chair consists of “intelligent mesh” stretched over a cantilevered steel frame. The result is an exceptionally comfortable chair that automatically conforms to even the slightest movement. Its open mesh weave allows air to circulate and prevents built-up body heat.
“It’s a great honor to be recognized by the ALA for our distinctive Fit Chair, which offers a perfect fit for both teens and adults,” said Allen Parker, vice president of product, sales and marketing for Kimball Office. “Fit Chair was designed and engineered around the natural features of human movement. It’s a comfortable solution for any number of learning activities, including quiet study and collaboration.”
