D is for the Duravit Designer Dream Bath Competition

Duravit is excited to launch its first ever North American design competition: the Duravit Designer Dream Bath Competition. This new program invites architects and designers to create an ideal bath space from a range of Duravit’s latest launches, including the Starck 2, Happy D.2, and DuraStyle collections. With a plethora of product offerings spanning furniture, sanitary ceramic and acrylic to inspire their designs, participants will use their own bathroom as the platform for their ultimate dream space. The winner will then be awarded the Duravit items used in his or her project up to a value of $15,000.

Duravit USA President Tim Schroeder explains: “We’re making our best new products available to participating designers and architects and look forward to seeing them implemented in their baths in an exciting, unique way.”

The Duravit Designer Dream Bath Competition encourages architects and designers to immerse themselves in Duravit’s product lines by finding the perfect products from the company’s newest collections: Starck 2, Happy D.2, and DuraStyle. Participants may implement the My Pro planning feature of Duravit’s Pro website (pro.duravit.us) to further organize their ideas and help craft their vision.

The entry process is simple and straight-forward. Designers need only submit two views minimum (rendering or sketch and floor plan) and a “before” image, as well as a short submission form including details on their project challenges and objectives to the Duravit Competition microsite (www.duravit.us/competition). Entries will then be judged by a panel of top design media, with a winner chosen for creativity, use of the Duravit product to overcome design challenges, and overall success of the space. The winner will be rewarded with the products from his or her dream bath design. The competition officially kicks off on July 24 and runs through Sept. 16. The winner will be announced at the company’s annual Design Week events in New York (Oct. 8-10).

The Starck 2 collection designed by Philippe Starck is an updated take on Starck’s previous Duravit collections, featuring a refined oval-shaped washbasin, an innovative new bathtub with integrated neck rest, and clean shower trays to further enhance the line’s contemporary aesthetic.

Happy D.2 showcases the signature Duravit “D” shape in the soft-lined ceramics and bathtubs. A new linen furniture finish and gentle LED illuminated mirror cabinets with integrated sound system round out the collection, which offers 13 bathtubs, 12 washbasins, and fresh styles for toilets, bidets, and cabinets. Happy D.2 introduces a modern, elegant update to its original counterpart.

Matteo Thun’s DuraStyle embraces the visual lightness and clean design synonymous with Duravit’s modern aesthetic, all while allowing for innumerable custom combinations through its comprehensive range of washbasins, mirrors, bidets, furniture, bathtubs, and innovative new rimless toilets. DuraStyle’s tremendous versatility can adapt to any taste and space.
