Keilhauer: one of Canada’s Greenest Employers
Keilhauer’s continued sustainability efforts have recently resulted in being chosen as one of Canada’s Greenest Employers.
The honour was bestowed upon Keilhauer by the editors of the Canada’s Top 100 Employers project, which recognizes Canadian companies that are leaders in environmental sustainability. “Our Planet Keilhauer initiative,” says Mike Keilhauer, president, Keilhauer, “is led by our sustainability manager, who works with all departments in our company to ensure that Keilhauer is a company that is environmentally benign, socially progressive, and economically successful.”
Keilhauer strives to achieve this goal by setting a sustainability policy, incorporating comprehensive sustainability programs, and empowering its people. (For a complete description of Keilhauer’s Sustainability program, please see keilhauer.com/company/environment/planet-keilhauer.html)
In addition to having products certified by the standard environmental programs of the contract furniture industry, (BIFMA level, and GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality), Keilhauer is proud to be one of the first few companies to include all their products on the ecoScorecard website, which is a database of free, web-based, manufacturer specific micro sites that help architects and designers search, evaluate, and document environmental impacts of building products, materials, and furnishings against the leading environmental rating systems.
EcoScorecard is an invaluable tool for specifiers to get relevant, accurate, and up-to-date environmental information on products used in buildings and interiors, at one easy-to-use on-line resource. “We want to make life easier for architects and designers who are looking for sustainable products to use in their projects,” says Keilhauer. “EcoScorecard helps us do that. It was a natural next step for us in our continuing sustainability efforts. We’re very proud to be leaders in this area.”
