Now showing at Bulthaup Toronto
Bulthaup Toronto is presenting Paulina Wiszowata’s “Art Objects (Ma Babies) .”
There’s a preview this Saturday (Oct. 5) for Scotiabank Nuit Blanche 2013.
Challenging the precious notions of painting and sculpture, Paulina Wiszowata infiltrates the art community by selecting detritus from other artists’ work, only then to transform it into art objects, and distribute it to visitors of her exhibition. This ephemerality in her work establishes a dematerializing value system determined by the inter-personal relationships between artist, object, and viewer. Replacing the object with a photograph of this gesture she transforms the object into a concept or idea.
By generating an effortless appearance with calculated gestures, Paulina critiques the very idea of herself as an artist through self-reflexivity. Through the exchange of objects and ideas she turns individuals into performers and they become her material alongside the objects and ideas.
Paulina is a recent graduate of OCAD University.
The exhibit runs until January 2014.
