Spotlight: Pierre-Andr Guindon
Pierre-André Guindon Interiors celebrated its 10th anniversary on Thurs., Sept. 19, by unveiling its new visual identity and its first collection of Signature decorative objects.
The celebration was held at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and featured a tour of the finest pieces from the museum’s decorative arts and design collection, followed by a reception at the museum’s Design Lab.
Surrounded by decor especially designed for the occasion by Pierre- André Guindon – decor that incorporates the graphics and the corporate metallic colours (gold, silver and bronze) from his new visual identity – guests were invited to take in the designer’s first collection of decorative objects.
Several collections – dinnerware, crystal, silverware, mosaics and rugs – were presented as virtual images. The exhibit also included a collection of wallpaper and, most notably, the first piece of furniture from a new collection for Jaymar that bears the Pierre-André Guindon Interiors stamp.
Say Guindon, “To express my dedication to the clean lines of contemporary design without compromising on comfort, I chose to exhibit an armchair à la Pommier – a style of chair that was designed for Napoleon I with a very low back that turns forward at right angles to create the armrests. Napoleon was particularly fond of this type of chair because it is very comfortable. I enjoy reinterpreting history to create a contemporary piece of furniture,”
ALL ABOUT THE PIERRE-ANDRÉ GUINDON INTERIORS SIGNATURE COLLECTION
The Pierre-André Guindon Interiors Signature collection includes five major themes with evocative names: Klimt, POP, CoCo, Wham and Garbo. The collection features 10 product groups: Fabrics; Wallpaper; Furniture; Lighting; Floor lamps; Glassware (crystal and/or glass); Dinnerware; Flatware (silver and stainless steel); Rugs; and Mosaics
Inspired by the Viennese artist, Klimt celebrates the return of gold, copper and bronze. These new metallic shades join the timeless colours of silver and platinum – the signature metals of Pierre-André Guindon Interiors. Klimt is distinguished by square forms in all the different products and by metallic leather like the covering of the Pommier Armchair for Jaymar.
New York and yellow taxi cabs with their checkered stripe are the hallmarks of POP, which features black or white lacquered wood and chrome. The theme comes in leathers, all the Signature collection products, and dinnerware.
Inspired by the fashion icon, this theme highlights the contrast between masculine and feminine, and features CoCo’s trademark colours – gold and pink. This theme comes mainly in accents such as rug fabrics and wallpapers, complementing the other themes.
Inspired by the ’80s, Wham combines bright colours with geometric shapes. Complementing POP, this theme was designed for a dynamic and urban look. It blends beautifully with the three metals from Klimt and also comes in crystal.
Inspired by the Art Deco movement, Garbo is distinguished by structured lines, metals, glam and velvet. This theme celebrates the refined style of the finest materials such as walnut and the three metals – gold, silver and bronze (the signature metals of Pierre-André Guindon Interiors) – with black and white highlights. A jazzy harmony that also comes in crystal.
