Mark your calendar: 2013 International Design Roundtable on Dec. 5
One of the most eagerly anticipated events in the Canadian design world is coming up soon. Sponsored by IDC and Canadian Interiors, the 2013 International Designer Roundtable takes place on Thurs., Dec. 5 (from 8 to 10 a.m.) at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, South Building.
The title of this year’s Roundtable is “Diverging Interests: How to Create a Symbiotic Relationship in Common and Public Areas.” It will focus on the concept of common areas and how to design for converging, dramatically different and competing interests within mixed-use projects and public interior spaces. How do you satisfy different design needs and expectations within public areas, mixed use projects, and institutional spaces?
A group of four experts – from Toronto, Chicago, Los Angeles and London, England – will explore the synergies that design can create in mixing different agendas, perceptions, and desires based on the initial expectation of use. This year’s speakers are Caroline Robbie, principal, Quadrangle Architects Limited; Tom Marquardt, principal and founder, marquardt+; Scott Johnson, founder and design partner, Johnson Fain; and Yu Jordy Fu, president and creative director, Marques & Jordy. Teh moderator is Toronto designer editor and columnist Pamela Young.
This session qualifies for 0.2 Interior Design Continuing Education Credits (IDCEC).
