Gold for His Highness the Aga Kahn

The Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) will present His Highness the Aga Khan its highest honour – the 2013 RAIC Gold Medal.

The selection of His Highness marks the first time in more than 30 years that a non-architect has been chosen to receive the Gold Medal, and recognizes the Aga Khan’s extraordinary achievements in using architecture as an instrument to further peaceful and sustainable community development around the world.

His Highness the Aga Khan is the 49th hereditary Imam (spiritual leader) of the Shia Ismaili Muslims; he is also founder and chairman of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), one of the largest private development agencies in the world. The Network’s underlying ethic is that of compassion for the most vulnerable in society and service to humanity without regard to faith, origin or gender.

The event is open to accredited media only. Space is limited and so members of the media are required to register in advance. Please note that His Highness the Aga Khan will not be available for interviews.
