Speaking of Pantone (see Dec. 2 news item), the company recently revealed its Colour of the Year. And that colour is … 18-3224 Radiant Orchid.
Every December, Pantone – the global coloor authority – carefully selects one colour that will be the breakthrough colour of the following year. Deciphering worldwide trends and forecasting the style of tomorrow, Pantone picked 18-3224 Radiant Orchid, a captivating purple, as the colour of the year for 2014.
“While the 2013 color of the year, Pantone 17-5641 Emerald, served as a symbol of growth, renewal and prosperity, Radiant Orchid reaches across the coloir wheel to intrigue the eye and spark the imagination,” says Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. “An invitation to innovation, Radiant Orchid encourages expanded creativity and originality, which is increasingly valued in today’s society.”
If you like, you can start your morning with Radiant Orchid. As an official Pantone licensee, Room Copenhagen has already embraced this expressive purple. The popular Cup Classic coffee cup will be on shelves in the beginning of the new year in a Radiant Orchid version.
