Go Fromental
London, U.K.-based Fromental unveils three brand-new hand-painted wallpaper designs for its more subtle Roomskins collection. Caissons is a contemporary trompe l’oeil design imitating coffered panelling, available in four standard colourways. Multiple washes of metallic paints on silk give the effect of the semi-precious stone Tiger’s Eye. Inspired by the translucent patterning of buffalo horn, Boreas is a subtle all-over pattern creates a soft, ethereal feel (hand-painted, with touches of metallics on some colourways).
ABOUT FROMENTAL
Having worked in fashion and interiors with leading international designers, partners Tim Butcher and Lizzie Deshayes established handmade interiors house Fromental in 2005, aiming to make the world’s most beautiful wallpapers, fabrics and accessories. Combining the finest skills together with luxurious fabrics, their distinctly British style blends historic classicism with the cutting-edge cool of London’s fashion scene to create contemporary, timeless interiors. The creative team is a collaboration of talented designers and craftsmen from London and China.
Offering high-end couture for walls, artists spend up to 600 hours elegantly stitching individual panels. Fromental’s modern take on 18th-Century chinoiserie, utilizing both monochromatic and vibrant colourways, has paved the way in reviving the genre. Fromental has applied the same panoramic techniques to more contemporary, panoramic 20th-century compositions, while the Roomskins collection features more subtle, non-repeating patterns.
More recently, Fromental partnered with AD Top 100 designer and design director at Wynn resorts Roger Thomas for its first collaborative series. Thomas’s sketches inspired by nature and classical ornament were interpreted with the intricate hand-painting and hand-embroidery techniques that adorn Fromental’s other wallpapers to create the Roger Thomas Collection for Fromental.
Novel techniques have been applied to create a range of eye-catching fabrics for drapery, wallcoverings and upholstery, incorporating a brand new way of manipulating textiles.
Fromental’s elaborate hand-painted and hand-embroidered designs now garner industry awards. Working alongside leading interior designers, their wallcoverings adorn some of the most prestigious commercial and residential properties across the globe including the Wynn resorts in Las Vegas and Macau; The Dorchester, London; The Fairmont, San Francisco; Hotel Bel-Air, Los Angeles; Pangu, Beijing as well as several Four Seasons and Shangri-La hotels.
