A world to Discovery

Wherever Brentano’s design director Iris Wang goes — whether visiting a mill in Japan, mountain climbing in Death Valley or simply driving through the Midwest — she records the moments that capture her attention in drawings and notes. Inspired by these travel journals, the patterns in Brentano’s spring Discovery collection explore the world through her artist’s eye: intriguing materials, inspiring landscapes and architectural motifs expressed in 23 textiles.

The Discovery collection offers durable, designer solutions for residential, hospitality and commercial projects, including two new, solution-dyed upholsteries for Brentano’s line of outdoor fabrics. The bold, vertical stripes of Parterre, like the regimented European gardens inspiring the name, give a formal structure to the traditional twill weave yet play with colour and scale. Lightfast, antibacterial, and bleach cleanable, 100-per-cent polyester Parterre and its 100-per-cent polyolefin companion Element, a subtle texture, both exceed 70,000 double rubs (Wyzenbeek) for true beauty and performance.

ABOUT BRENTANO

Founded in 1990 by design director Iris Wang and her husband, president E-Kwan Chen, Brentano has grown from a modest beginning of eight patterns to an internationally represented textile house. Brentano’s fabrics stem from Wang’s philosophy of balancing beauty and performance. The house’s growing collection of eco-fabrics expands this ideology by demanding textiles meet thoroughly researched standards of environmental consciousness while maintaining their beauty. Having celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2010, Brentano continues to offer a variety of innovative and interesting textiles, including eco-friendly faux leather, high-performance upholstery, fire-resistant, outdoor, Crypton, Nano-Tex and GreenShield fabrics.
