The Design & Health International Academy Awards is the world’s leading advocacy program, recognizing professional excellence in the research and practice of designing healthy environments. The annual awards program features the best in global health design environments that support health, well-being and quality of life. The awards are multi-disciplinary, recognizing the interconnectedness of health with architecture and design and its direct impact on supporting health and well-being. Winners influence and advance design as a tool which reflects important scientific advancements undertaken by researchers, academics and design practitioners at the forefront of promoting the relationship between design and human health, well-being and quality of life, while celebrating the latest research findings and their application into design practice.
WHY
The Awards aim to establish a global design benchmark for the psychosocially-supportive design and the development of healthy environment; establish a global research benchmark for papers into issues relating to the field of design and health; reward and recognize the achievements of design and health professionals, including architects, designers, researchers, health professionals, facility managers and contractors in the successful delivery of leading edge research and innovative health-centric projects and buildings.
Winners will be featured on-line on the International Academy For Design and Health’s website (www.worldhealthdesign.com) and be featured in the academy’s World Health Design Magazine.
WHO
The awards are open to international organizations in both the private and public sectors participating in either research or practice, including the planning, procurement, design, architecture, construction and management of healthy environments. Recipients of the awards are teams and individuals who through outstanding efforts have contributed to the progress of knowledge and demonstrated vision and leadership in exemplary initiatives within the field. International roster of judges will review entries and make their selection.

Deadline to apply is Apr. 1, 2014. The awards ceremony will be held at the Royal York Fairmont Hotel in Toronto, on July 12, during the 10th Design & Health World Congress & Exhibition from July 9-13.
