Teknion’s Atlanta and Chicago showrooms are the latest to receive LEED green building certification from USGBC
Teknion Corporation announced today that its Atlanta and Chicago showrooms have been awarded LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) for Commercial Interiors 2.0 Gold by USGBC (the United States Green Building Council). Teknion now has a total of eight showrooms in North America certified to a LEED standard.
“We continue to look at all aspects of sustainable development within our organization,” says Tracy Backus, Teknion’s director of Sustainable Programs. “This includes the design and manufacturing of our products to support our customers’ environmental goals as well as our own. We are committed to sustainable design and LEED-rated spaces as our corporate mission. As we lead by example, we show support for our clients in their quest to attain LEED certification for their buildings by understanding the process and the challenges with all aspects of green buildings.”
Atlanta and Chicago mark the fifth and sixth Teknion showrooms, respectively, in the U.S. to attain LEED certification from USGBC. The company’s Santa Monica, San Francisco and Washington, D.C., showrooms received LEED Gold certification, and the Boston space LEED Silver. Teknion’s Ottawa showroom attained LEED Silver and Montreal LEED Platinum for Commercial Interiors from the Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC).
The 7,300-square-foot, L-shaped Atlanta showroom was designed by Vanderbyl Design; Tvsdesign was the architect of record. Teknion’s recently expanded 22,000-square-foot showroom on the 10th floor of The Merchandise Mart in Chicago was also designed by Vanderbyl Design.
