Bulthaup Toronto presents selected works by well-known Canadian painter Charles Pachter
Bulthaup Toronto continues its series of laudable and enjoyable art exhibitions by presenting selected works by much-loved artist Charles Pachter. It runs from May to August, 2014.
One of Canada’s leading contemporary artists, Charles Pachter is a painter, printmaker, sculptor, designer, historian and lecturer. His iconic pop images of the Queen, the moose and the maple leaf flag celebrate Canada’s cultural heritage with wit and whimsy. Born and raised in Toronto, and passionate about its culture and heritage, Pachter’s work is both informed by the city and has made its impression on it.
Pachter’s contributions to Canadian culture have been recognized with honourary doctorates from Brock University, OCAD University, and the University of Toronto, where he is a Senior Fellow at Massey College. He is an Officer of the Order of Canada, a Chevalier of France’s Order of Arts and Letters and a recipient of the Queen’s Golden and Diamond Jubilee medals.
Pachter studied art history at the University of Toronto, French literature at the Sorbonne, and painting and graphics at the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan. His work has been exhibited at the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Royal Ontario Museum, and the McMichael Gallery. He has held solo exhibitions in France, Germany, Japan the U.K., and India, and is represented in public and private collections throughout Canada, and internationally.
