Republic of Fritz Hansen introduces a limited edition of Arne Jacobsen’s incomparable Egg

Premium Danish furniture brand Republic of Fritz Hansen introduces a limited edition of the Egg with a production run of only 999 chairs. The inspiration for this limited-edition Egg derives from Arne Jacobsen’s use of classic blue colour tones that is so prominent in his designs at the world-renowned SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. The indigo blue fabric is part of the Canvas series by Kvadrat and has been chosen as a way of celebrating and revisiting Arne Jacobsen’s artistic use of colour in furniture.

To highlight the craftsmanship and the 1,200 hand-sewn stitches that go into the making of each Egg, the chair has dark brown leather piping. The piping also emphasizes the iconic, organic lines of Arne Jacobsen’s design. To suit the grey and brown undertones of the fabric, and make the overall appearance of the chair less formal, the base has been made with a burnished look.

The specially made Egg is beautiful and timeless, made with painstaking craftsmanship in top-quality materials. The chair shows an impeccable attention to detail and has the subtle ability to light up any type of space by giving it a touch of Nordic aesthetic. The choice Egg is now available to dealers and will be available to the public on Dec. 1, 2014.
