Let’s hear it for Toronto’s own Stratus Bar & Restaurant, which has won the Society of British and International Design’s (SBID) Award for Best Bar & Restaurant – the first international award for B+H Architects’ interiors group.
Located in the Toronto Athletic Club, in the heart of the city’s Financial District, Stratus was ready for a reinvention. B+H’s design team transformed it into an elegant yet relaxed space, suitable for comfortable dining and hosting multiple concurrent events. A warm space with sweeping views, Stratus has established itself as the premier destination for Toronto’s Bay street elite, with revenues doubling since the renovation.
“Our approach to hospitality, driven by our B+H CHIL Design team, is woven throughout the elegant, yet welcoming interiors of Stratus,” says Heidi Painchaud, B+H managing principal, Interior Design.
The winners were announced during a ceremony at the prestigious Dorchester hotel in London on Nov. 14. Eduardo Mora, senior associate at B+H and design lead for Stratus, accepted the award, dedicating it to the B+H project team and thanking the client for a successful collaboration.
The project team for Stratus includes Eduardo Mora, Patrick Féjer, Guy Painchaud, Theresa Forti and Brooke Coles.
