After an incredible 40-year run, Hirschberg Design Group closes its doors

Martin Hirschberg, president of Hirschberg Design Group Inc., sent out an announcement letter this past week, which CI is sharing with our readers:

“After over 40 years in the forefront of the Toronto interior design industry (first as MHD and then as HDG), Marion and I have decided that it is time for us to move on to new challenges and opportunities. It is with mixed emotions that are we writing to inform you that we will be closing our doors for the last time on Feb. 27, 2015. It is time for Marion and I to move on, to take some well deserved time to smell the roses and try new experiences.

“During our many years in business we have been very lucky to have had the opportunity to work with a group of talented and creative individuals, and as we move on to new challenges we want to take a moment and wish each of them success in their futures.

“We did not wish to leave you, our valued clients, without someone to take over and look after your upcoming needs. To create a smooth transition for you, our clients, we have made arrangements for Yvette (Young Lee) Ko, who has worked for us for many years, to continue with your jobs, and to make sure each project is brought to a timely and appropriate completion and continue to assist you into the future. We believe that, in the time Yvette has worked with us at HDG, she has developed into a skilled designer with similar sensibilities as we have demonstrated in our work with you. We will be providing Yvette with all of our clients’ current drawings and documents so that she can serve your needs in as seamless a manner as possible.

“As always, we will continue to work diligently to meet your design needs until we close our doors for the final time at the end of February. If there is any work remaining to be completed after that date, we will do whatever we can to create a smooth transfer to Yvette.

“Perhaps our greatest regret in retiring is the need to say goodbye to all of our many friends and clients with whom we have worked and who have supported our extraordinary journey for all of these years.

“Marion and I will be remaining in Toronto and, of course, look forward to perhaps now having the time to sit and chat over a latte about past projects or the future of the design or hospitality industry.

“Again, thanking all of you for your many years of loyalty and wishing you continued success in your futures.

“Yours very truly,

“Martin and Marion Hirschberg”

We at Canadian Interiors wish them all the best.
