Iglo Architects gives a plastic surgery clinic in Istanbul a facelift

The aptly named New Age Clinic – a plastic surgery clinic – is located on the 12th floor of Fulya Terrace building in Istanbul, Turkey. Architectural firm Iglo Architects created a design that is affordable and rational as well as striking.

Colouring on the walls, the graphical arrangements on the carpets and the design of several furniture and illumination elements were all it took.

Two plastic surgeons who founded the clinic requested that the clinic reflect their style. The existing plan of the 250-square-metre flat, with four rooms and a lobby, was suitable to function as a plastic surgery clinic without any changes to the plan. Operation room, consultation room, accounting and archives fit right in.

Say the designers,”Our first task was to start a war against light blue and white, which are standard surgery colours. We chose dark grey to be used as the main colour from ceiling to floor. On the ceiling and wall crossings we used a fluid form which implies the heartbeat. This graphical effect defined the style of the furniture as well. As no structural elements such as suspended ceilings were desired, ceiling and illumination details were both solved by using specially designed stretch ceiling lighting elements. The five-metre-long desk in the lobby was designed by us especially for New Age Clinic.”
