Bulthaup Toronto and Fogo Island Inn present “Fogo Island: The Ephemeral Isle at One of the Four Corners of the Earth”
“Fogo Island: The Ephemeral Isle at One of the Four Corners of the Earth” is a new exhibition featuring the photography of Alex Fradkin.
The opening event takes place on May 7, from 6 to 8 p.m., and includes a talk by the artist at 6:30 p.m. The exhibit runs from May 1 to Sept. 10, 2015.
THE EXHIBITION
There is a an island off the northeast coast of Newfoundland named Fogo Island, born of fire and stone, whose ancient geologic origins began over four hundred million years ago. On Fogo Island, if the stones could speak – and some say they do – each would tell a unique and epic tale. The remote island, located along Iceberg Alley, was named one of the four corners of the earth by the Flat Earth society. Peering over the rocky ledges of the island, one is stripped of all conceptual thought and left only to experience the island with raw emotion and sensory awareness.
