Mogen Lassen’s classic Kubus candleholder gets “golden” treatment

bylassen_2015_0368Architect Mogens Lassen’s classic candleholder, Kubus, is an essential part of Danish design history, and now By Lassen presents the entire Kubus collection in brass.

In 1962 the local artisans in Ordrup completed work on the very first Kubus candleholders. At that time, Kubus was reserved exclusively for close friends, architect colleagues and Mogens Lassen’s own family. Today, Kubus with its distinctive square shape is an international design icon cherished by connoisseurs the world over.

Mogens Lassen was a consummate perfectionist and he explored life through ideal proportions, of which Kubus is an outstanding example.

With great respect for Mogens Lassen’s work, by Lassen designed the Kubus Bowl in 2009 to complement the Kubus candleholders. The entire collection is the epitome of good, intelligent Danish craftsmanship.

Brass is a classic, exclusive material that will eventually develop a rich, natural patina and only achieve even more character with time. The brass-plated Kubus and Kubus Bowl are timeless and compliment the rest of the collection, which currently consists of copper, black and white lacquered steel and a hand-polished nickel-plated version. The Kubus collection will be available in shops in late September 2015.
