Inside the 2016 Canadian International AutoShow
2017 Buick LaCrosse
The 2017 Buick LaCrosse is characterized primarily by its sweeping interior cockpit, French stitching on its seats and instrument panel, and aluminum and wood decorative trim.
Other interior features include: Contemporary Moon White ambient lighting; perforated leather-appointed front seats with a new lumbar massaging feature; heated steering wheel; power rear sunshade; Bose audio system; seven per cent more storage space in the trunk than the current model, configured to accommodate up to four golf bags; and more usable storage space, including a pull-out drawer in the rear of the centre console accessible to rear-seat passengers allowing electronic devices, earbuds and other items to be stored out of sight for greater security and reduced clutter.
Three interior colours are available: Jet Black, Dark Atmosphere and Shale and Jet Black and Brandy.
2017 Corvette Grand Sport Collector Edition
As the latest member of the Corvette lineup, the 2017 Grand Sport carries on the racing spirit of the original 1963 model, combining the power of the legendary LT1 6.2L engine with a lightweight, race-bred chassis and aerodynamics package to provide improved grip and handling.
The limited collector’s edition comes in Watkins Glen Gray body colour with Tension Blue fender hash marks and full-length Satin Black stripe, all sitting atop black wheels. A blue leather and suede-wrapped interior mimics the exterior finish, while a three-dimensional representation of an original Grand Sport race car is embossed in the headrests. The logo is also used on the instrument panel plaque.
2016 Chrysler 200
Chrysler has released five models of its 2016 Chrysler 200, including a special anniversary model meant to celebrate its 90th year. In addition to the standard features of the limited model, the anniversary package contains a heated steering wheel, auto-dimming rearview mirror with microphone, dual-zone automatic temperature control and ParkView Rear Back-Up Camera. The front floor mats and 8.4-inch multimedia centre touchscreen are branded with the Chrysler anniversary logo, while three exterior paint colour choices celebrate the occasion: Black Forest Green, Maximum Steel and Redline Tri-Coat. Leather and linen interiors are available in black, mocha and more.
2016 Fiat 500X
Designed at the FIAT Centro Stile studio in Turin, Italy, the 500X is the latest addition to the FIAT lineup in North America. On the exterior, design elements like double headlamps, a trapezoidal nose, the signature “whiskers and logo” face and the rounded clamshell hood pay homage to the original Fiat Cinquecento. Five models — Pop, Sport, Trekking, Trekking Plus and Lounge — are available, in addition to twelve exterior finishes including Bianco Gelato (white), Nero Cinema (black), Rosso Passione (red), Blu Venezia (metallic blue) and Arancio (orange).
Inside, the FIAT 500X contains seven air bags— two for the driver (standard and knee bag), one for the front passenger, full-length side-curtain air bags and front seat-mounted side air bags. The vehicle also contains Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist, alerting the driver through a slight vibration in the steering wheel if the 500X drifts out of its lane. If the driver doesn’t respond, the system can automatically realign the vehicle to the proper lane position. Dual-zone automatic temperature control, heated front seats and steering wheel, trim options, and a wide sunroof characterize the interior.
2017 Ford GT
The 2017 Ford GT is available in a limited-edition Heritage theme honouring the GT40 Mark II driven to victory by Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon at Le Mans in 1966 — part of the historic 1-2-3 Ford GT sweep. The car features unique interior and exterior colour themes and an exclusive wheel finish.
The Ford GT ’66 Heritage Edition features a Shadow Black exterior in either gloss or matte finish with silver stripes and exposed carbon fiber package. The interior of the limited edition model wraps the Ford GT carbon-fiber seats in Ebony leather, with pillowed inserts and plow-through stitching, and the seats’ head restraints and the steering wheel are debossed with the Ford GT logo. The instrument panel, pillars and headliner also features an Ebony-leather wrap, with gold appliqués on the instrument panel, the seat’s X-brace and shift paddles. Like the 1966 race car, the steering wheel is leather wrapped, with seat belts featuring a unique blue webbing.
“While the looks are distinctly based on the GT40 Mark II race car, we’ve accentuated new styling cues to provide a modern interpretation,” said Garen Nicoghosian, exterior design manager for the car.
2017 Honda Ridgeline
The 2017 Honda Ridgeline pickup contains a scratch-resistant four-foot-wide flat bed that opens both out and down, with spacious storage tucked underneath. Inside, leather-trimmed seats can carry up to five people or can be folded down to accommodate long items. A push start button, 8-inch display touchscreen, and Apple Car Play and Android Auto compatibility are all included.
The Honda Ridgeline is available in seven exterior colours. Interiors are offered in Neutral Black, Wisteria Gray or Shadow Beige colours. Red-perforated black leather with red accent stitching is available in the Ridgeline Black Edition.
2017 Genesis G90
Hyundai’s 2017 Genesis G90 is inspired by clean, modern lines and materials sourced from artisans around the globe. Its seats are covered in semi-aniline leather developed by Conceria Pasubio S.p.A., specialists in Italian leather craftsmanship, and have been approved by a German campaign for healthier backs, Aktion Gesunder Rücken. The cabin features Nappa leather and wood, while the Lexicon audio speaker grilles are made of high-grade aluminum alloy.
Smart fortwo Coupe
At only 2.69 metres long, smart is Europe’s youngest car brand, launched in November 2014 and introduced in dealerships last September. Maximum space is packed into minimal dimensions, while the essential safety concept embodied by the preceding models has been retained. Like a nut, the soft interior is protected from harm by a rigid exterior shell.
Inside, the sculptural dashboard consists of two sections – an outer section which can be covered with fabric, and a large, concave inner section incorporating the functional elements. The infotainment centre, consisting of radio and navigation controls, appear to hover in front of the dashboard and are easily controlled on the steering wheel itself.
The standard fortwo is available in black, white and red, with a black interior. The smart fortwo cabrio model offers exteriors in orange, grey, yellow, blue and more. Interior colours can complement the exterior options, if desired.
