IDS17 to debut installations from designers Jaime Hayon, Nika Zupanc and PARTISANS
Interior Design Show (IDS17) has announced three leading-edge installations from Jaime Hayon, Nika Zupanc and PARTISANS, to be unveiled to the public during the four-day event in January 2017.
One of Time Magazine’s 100 most relevant creators, Wallpaper magazine’s Breakthrough Creator and two-time winner of Elle Décor’s International Award, Jaime Hayon will present his collaboration with leading quartz manufacturer Caesarstone, at IDS17. Titled “Stone Age Folk”, Hayon has created a whimsical universe inspired by the natural and mythical worlds, Fauna and folklore. As the essential component in his project, over 48 Caesarstone colours will be synthesized into a kaleidoscopic installation – blending fantasy with his signature artisan skill set.
Described as “punk elegance” by Elle USA and the “real deal” by The Wall Street Journal, Nika Zupanc aims to bring to life the spontaneous, diverse voices of design that are often smoldered by rationality. Among her collaborations with clients such as, Francfranc, Queeboo and Nodus, is her notable ICFF Editors award for her collection in partnership with British brand, Sé. Athletically inspired and infused with elements of the Olympics, the range of furniture mirrors her approach to modern culture and technological innovation. Presented by South Hill Home, Nika Zupanc for Sé will be displayed at IDS17.
Voted “Best Emerging Designer” by Canada’s Design Exchange and “Best Emerging Practice” by the Ontario Association of Architects, PARTISANS is an intrepid Toronto-based studio. To celebrate the launch of Gweilo, their custom line of sculptural lights in collaboration with LightForm, the firm will be debuting the PARTISANS FACTORY at IDS17. Equal parts fabrication warehouse, artist studio and lounge party, the PARTISANS FACTORY installation is where making and doing meets play and performance. The LAMP award-winning light, which manipulates the dynamic movement of luminosity itself to architectural effect, will be hand-sculpted and made-to-order on site. Guests are also encouraged to luxuriate in a sitting room featuring special pieces by Le Corbusier and Frank Gehry, curated by Porch Modern.
All three of these exhibits will be available for viewing at IDS17 from January 19-22. Tickets for IDS17 are now available for purchase here.
