Coming Soon: Canadian dispatches from Paris
Celebrating emerging talent is a long standing tradition for Maison&Objet Paris, the Rising Talent Awards, which reveal tomorrow’s star lifestyle designers in a curated space is a major part of that tradition.
For the up-coming January edition from the 20th to 24th, Maison&Objet Paris will showcase the Rising Talent Awards UK with the support of Sir John Sorrell, founder of London Design Festival, the London Design Biennale and the Saturday Night Club Trust.
This season the show invited six of the most famous names in the world of design and lifestyle to nominate one of the six talents. The six designers are: Sir Paul Smith, Tom Dixon, Ilse Crawford, Nigel Coates, Ross Lovegrove and Jay Osgerby, and the six UK Rising Talents they nominated are (respectively): Marcin Rusak, John Booth, Giles Miller, Sebastian Cox, Studio SWINE and Zuza Mengham.
Canadian Interiors will be sending one of our own home-grown talents to the show in January: Scot Laughton, professor and Studio Head of the Industrial Design, School of Animation, Arts and Design department at Sheridan College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning. He will be investigating the newest trends in the contemporary international design and décor scene, and will present them at a special event in Toronto, hosted by Maison&Objet, in the first quarter of 2017.
Stay tuned for more information on that event.
