First annual ‘LIT’ awards showcase the best of global lighting

Winners of the first ever LIT Design Awards were announced this week, celebrating some of the most aesthetically and technologically innovative lighting projects from around the globe.  The awards created to recognize the efforts of talented international lighting product designers and lighting implementers. We believe that lighting is an art and a science, and it is one of the most important elements of design. LIT was envisioned to celebrate the creativity and innovation in the fields of lighting products and application.

Celebrating lighting product design and architectural lighting, the LIT Design Awards recognized a wide range of projects and products, ranging from Flyte’s Levitating Light, to the complex and delicate lighting program by Limari Lighting Design that illuminates the Hariri Pontarini-designed Bahá’í Temple of South America in Santiago, Chile.

“Light in Theory” (LIT) was derived from the theory of light on an abstract, more encompassing level. Without this electromagnetic spectrum of waves that brings colour and illumination to the world, we would not have lighting products or implementation of those products.

The competition was open to submissions on a global level, accepting entries from lighting manufacturers, designers and practices from all around the world. Selected by a jury of designers and leaders in the lighting, interior design and architectural fields, the 1st annual winners will receive a trophy, extensive publicity showcasing their designs and products to an international audience, and more.

Farmani Group assembled The LIT Design Awards to bring attention to achievements in lighting product design and to promote the winning designers and implementers to the prominent audience worldwide. Farmani Group, established in 1985, is the organizer of International Design Awards (IDA), Prix de la Photographie in Paris, London International Creative Awards, and The Lucie Awards for Photography, which has emerged as one of the world’s most prestigious annual photography awards.
