IES hosting lighting design seminars in Edmonton and Calgary

The Illuminating Engineers Society is bringing a pair of lighting design seminars to Alberta’s largest cities. Both themed ‘Listen to the Architecture,’ the seminars are coming to Calgary and Edmonton on April 18 and April 19 respectively, featuring lighting designer Chip Israel as a keynote speaker and presenter.IES, Calgary, Edmonton, lighting design,

Using case studies, these IES presentations will provide input into the evaluation of various architecture and interior spaces and show how to use lighting to enhance the overall effect and mood. The seminars will discuss options available to the designer, presentation techniques, and finally finished photos showing the end results of the method employed. The philosophy will show how lighting can direct attention, identify details, shape spaces, and create moods. Various lighting techniques such as layered lighting, shadow and highlights, and colour will be explored. The discussion will provide some insight and first hand practical examples of the challenges that face lighting designers to augment and enhance the architecture of the space.
