CERSAIE tile show returns to Bologna in September
The 36th edition of Cersaie—the most important international exhibition of ceramic tile and bathroom furnishings—will take place at the Bologna Exhibition Center in Bologna, Italy from September 24-28, 2018. The show is attracts over 800 exhibitors from around the world including architects, interior designers, tile installers, distributors, and media. Cersaie is organized by Edi.Cer SpA and promoted by Confindustria Ceramica in collaboration with Bologna Fiere.
Cersaie will welcome award-winning British architect and designer Lord Richard Rogers, 2007 Pritzker Architecture Prize Laureate, to give the 2018 Keynote Lecture. The event will be held at 11am on Tuesday 25 September in Palazzo dei Congressi at Bologna Fiere following an introduction by architecture historian Francesco Dal Co.
Portuguese architect Camilo Rebelo will be the first guest in the “Building, Dwelling, Thinking” cultural program of Cersaie 2018. He will speak at a conference held in the Architecture Gallery on Wednesday 26 September. Rebelo has received numerous awards and recognitions for this work over the years and was most recently awarded the Baku UIA International Award for the Ktima House in Greece (2017).
This year, for Cersaie’s fifth collective B2B exhibition, a portion of Hall 30 will be transformed for The Sound of Design. Demonstrating the connection between music and design, and how the two creative concepts have overcome the test of time, curators Angelo Dall’Aglio and Davide Vercelli will create a number of sets focused on conveying music and lifestyle from 1976 to 1983 in the context of design and new ceramic products.
“Città della Posa” (Tiling Town) will return to Hall 31/A during Cersaie for the seventh year. Organized by Assoposa – the Italian tile installers association, events and workshops will include various technical workshops, discussions between tile installers and designers to ensure cohesive relationships. Demonstrations will also focus on proper tile laying techniques, particularly with large format slabs.
